TEHRAN (IRNA)-- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Sunday called for modernizing the country’s tax, banking, insurance and customs system.

He made the remarks during a ceremony to introduce new Minister of Economy and Finance, Shamseddin Hosseini.
Hosseini received vote of confidence from the Iranian Majlis on Tuesday, August 5.
His nomination for the post of Minister of Economy and Finance was made on July 29.
Hosseini received 218 votes in favor, 29 against and 23 abstentions.
The president said that the government’s economic policies are fully clear and transparent.
“Iranian nation plays a fundamental and determining role in the country’s political, economic, social and cultural affairs.” “We believe that diplomacy has no meaning without presence of people,” he said.
President Ahmadinejad called for fair distribution of the country’s resources and equal opportunities for the people to lead the nation to prosperity.
